Scandinave Spa is a Nordic-themed spa in Whistler. It has hot pools, cold pools, relaxation stations, saunas and massage services.
The spa operates year-round. It’s a nice place to visit in summer when it’s warm as well as in winter when there’s snow on the ground.
Scandinave Spa in Whistler
Whistler’s Scandinave Spa is one of the area’s most popular destinations. The place is famous for its hydrotherapy pools and hot rooms (the latter a Finnish tradition). A selection of massages are also available at the spa.
The Scandinave is unique in that it requires guests to follow its rules of silence. Cell phones can’t be used within the spa facilities and talking is discouraged. This makes the spa the ideal place to unwind and disconnect from regular life. The rules make the experience very peaceful and relaxing.
Spa Location and Hours
Located just north of Whistler Village, the spa isn’t far from Lost Lake Park at 8010 Mons Road. From downtown Vancouver to the spa takes less than two hours in good traffic. From the Olympic Plaza in Whistler Village, it’s just a 2.5-kilometre drive.
The venue in Whistler is just one of several Scandinave Spas located across Canada. Other locations include Mont-Tremblant (in Quebec), Blue Mountain (in Ontario) and Vieux-Montreal.
Opening hours at Whistler’s Scandinave Spa are from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm daily. The first massage begins at 9:00 am. The place is open year-round, rain, shine or snow.
About the Scandinave Spa
The Scandinave Spa is a 25,000-square-foot mostly outdoor spa. To promote a relaxing experience, guests are asked to remain silent. Phones and cameras aren’t allowed in the spa. However, electronic readers such as Kindles are allowed.
Visitors to the spa are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle. Visitors can refill their bottles at the various water stations around the property.
There is a bistro on-site. The place sells sandwiches, snacks and drinks. It also has a fantastic view overlooking the pools. The bistro is one of the few locations on the property where guests may use their electronic devices and take photos.
The spa is for adults aged 18 and over. Children and infants aren’t permitted anywhere on the property, including the bistro.
Hydrotherapy at the Scandinave
To experience the full benefits of hydrotherapy, the spa recommends a hot/cold/relax cycle. Guests spend 10 to 15 minutes in a hot area, then dip for 5 to 20 seconds in a cold pool, and then spend 10 to 15 minutes at a relaxation station. The spa recommends that guests repeat this cycle between three and five times.
There is a selection of both hot and cold pools around the property, as well as steam rooms and saunas. In total, there are two hot tub-like pools, two cold plunge pools, a Nordic waterfall, Nordic showers, a Eucalyptus steam bath, a wood-burning sauna, and a Finnish sauna. There are also two indoor solariums. All the baths are located outdoors.
For the relaxation portion of the hydrotherapy circuit, guests can use chairs located either inside the heated solariums or outside. There are also hammocks, but only in the summertime.
Scandinave Massages
The Scandinave Spa offers a selection of massage treatments. All massages include access to the baths and a free robe rental.
Massages offered at Scandinave include Swedish Relaxation, Restorative, Deep Tissue, Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), and Prenatal. The spa also offers a duo/couples massage.

Scandinave Spa Video
The following video shows what Scandinave Spa looks like from outside and from a distance in winter. You aren’t allowed to bring recording devices into the facility, which is why all scenes are from outside and at a distance. You may take photos and video from the location where we took our footage, but not any closer.
Tips & Advice
Below are some suggestions and extra information to help you make the most out of your spa experience.
TIP #1: If you want to pamper yourself, this is a great place to do it! Not including a massage, expect to stay for between two and three hours (plus or minus, depending on how long you like soaking in hot tubs and relaxing). If you take a book or eat something while you’re there, you might want to stay even longer.
TIP #2: Don’t forget your swimsuit! A water bottle is also a good idea to take, as is a pair of flip-flops if you have them.
TIP #3: Complimentary herbal tea is available upstairs in the lobby, between the reception area and the bistro. It’s really good. There is also tea outside, near the entrance to the main building (where you enter and exit to reach the change rooms).
TIP #4: Scandinave Spa is nice in spring, summer, fall, and winter. In warmer months, between dips in the hot and cold pools, you can relax outdoors in a comfortable chair. Some guests have mini siestas. Others read a book. In winter, the paths are heated, and there are still outdoor places you can sit at (a couple of which are by a fire).
