A large and luxurious 4.5-star hotel, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler has the most expansive pool deck in Whistler. It’s also a gorgeous hotel.
Fairmont Chateau Whistler
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler is a fancy hotel located in Whistler’s Upper Village at 4599 Chateau Boulevard. Guests skiing or snowboarding on Blackcomb Mountain can ski-in and ski-out of the hotel, making it a convenient location, especially in the winter time.
The resort has 528 rooms. It’s a massive hotel and just a short 5 to 10-minute walk from the Whistler Village Centre area.
Hotel Dining
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler is home to an impressive five restaurants, plus options for in-room dining for guests (or at least that was the case prior to COVID-19). As of 2020 the executive chef at all five of these restaurants was Isabel Chung, who, at the time, was the only female executive chef at any of the Fairmont Hotels and Resorts worldwide.
The Grill Room is a highly-rated steakhouse located within the hotel. It’s known for using local Canadian beef and Ocean Wise Seafood in its dishes.
The Chalet is the restaurant at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Clubhouse at 4612 Blackcomb Way. This restaurant is best known for its fondues.
The Mallard Lounge is right in the lobby of the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Guests here can sit either inside the lounge or outside on the patio overlooking the mountains. Famous for its cocktails, the place also has a selection of casual bar food. There’s also live entertainment on most days.
The Wildflower is a more family-friendly restaurant located within the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. It’s open for breakfast and dinner and serves classic and locally-inspired dishes.
Portobello is a casual café that can be found within the hotel. The menu consists primarily of sandwiches and craft beer.

Hotel Amenities
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler has a variety of amenities for hotel guests. Depending on the season, the hotel offers bicycle and ski equipment storage.
Guests also have access to an indoor/outdoor pool plus a slightly colder 60-foot lap pool. There are hot tubs located both inside and outside, plus a sauna and a couple steam rooms. There’s also a shop poolside selling any essentials you may have forgotten (e.g. sunscreen). There is also bar beside one of the pools.
The hotel’s fitness centre can be found right next to the pool. The facility has both weights and cardio equipment. The hotel also has a yoga studio which offers daily yoga classes, and there are a couple of tennis courts too.
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler is also home to The Vida Spa. The spa offers a variety of treatments from massages to pedicures. Guests at the spa also gets access to the Fairmont Chateau’s hotel health club, including the pools and hot tubs.
Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course
Just north of the hotel at 4612 Blackcomb Way is the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club. Here guests have access to a full-size professional golf course, a driving range and The Chalet restaurant.
The golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 1993. The course has 18 holes and is 6,635 yards long total. With a par of 72, the course is fun and challenging for folk of all golfing abilities. Golf season at the Fairmont Chateau Golf Course runs from May to October.

Environmental Initiatives
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler participates in a variety of environmental initiatives. These include initiatives for events, nature and sustainable hospitality.
Eco-meet is the Fairmont Chateau’s initiative for meetings and events held at the hotel. The hotel tries to minimize the environmental impact of any of its events through the reduction of waste and conservation of resources. It even includes their Conference Fit program which is a health and fitness program for event attendees and their companions.
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler also participates in Planet 21 which is an Accor Hotel initiative. Planet 21 promotes positive and sustainable hospitality and is recognized by several international organizations. The hotel also earned the Hotel Association of Canada’s Green Key Rating of four Green Keys.
All restaurants at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler strive to serving local, fair-trade and organic products when possible in their food. The menu also includes sustainable Ocean Wise Seafood.
One other local initiative at the hotel is their rooftop Woodlands Terrace. Opened in 2015, this is home to their herb garden, bee hotels and several beehives. Fresh herbs and honey from the garden are often used in dishes at their restaurants.
An initiative at the Fairmont Chateau Golf Club is the Caped Crusaders. The Caped Crusader initiative includes two bat hotels located right on the golf course. These help preserve the local bat population as well as help reduce insect pest populations. Bats love to eat mosquitoes!
The Fairmont Chateau Whistler has also partnered with Clean the World. This program recycles soap and shampoo products and distributes them to people in need across the world.
